When you own a steel boat and are in the midst of doing a complete restoration of all the exterior surfaces from the bottom of the keel to the top of the decks, THIS is what happiness looks like!! (click on photo collage for more detail)
Rust being eradicated by cutting out, sand blasting, grinding, needle guns, scraping and anything else that will get rid of it. Though I do still hear Neal Young singing “Rust Never Sleeps” we are growingly confident that we will be able to at least put all the rust on the Good Ship Learnativity into a coma and keep it there with many layers of new primer, filler and top colour coats. MUCH work still to be done, but much progress already made since we first hauled out on Sept. 5th here in Vuda Point marina. Only one week to go till we fly out so the big push is on to get all the rust removed and everything primed before we leave her for a few months and head out to visit friends and family in Canada, USA and Europe. Stay tuned for more once I’m off the boat and maybe have a bit more time and bandwidth to post more.
